Urgent Problems

If you have severe pain, new numbness, signs of infection (fever, worsening redness, discharge) or a medical emergency, please contact NHS 111 or 999 immediately, or attend your nearest A&E.

Changing or Cancelling an Appointment

If you need to reschedule or cancel an appointment, please give at least 48 hours’ notice where possible.

Contact the secretary directly by phone or email, stating your full name, date of birth, and appointment date.

Late cancellations may incur a fee where clinic time cannot be re-allocated.

If you booked through HCA Healthcare, Nuffield Health or The Priory, you may also contact the hospital bookings team, who will liaise with the practice to arrange an alternative time.

Tip: Early notice helps free appointments for other patients awaiting specialist care.

Running Late or Missed Appointments

If you are delayed, please call ahead so the clinic can plan accordingly.

Arrivals more than 15 minutes late may need to be re-scheduled to avoid delaying other patients.

Missed appointments without notice may attract a re-booking charge.

If you were unable to attend due to illness or transport breakdown, please contact the secretary as soon as practicable to rearrange.

Requesting Letters, Reports or Receipts

Clinic letters are routinely emailed to you within 1-2 days of the appointment. You may request additional copies of your clinic letter, imaging report, or operative note for your records or insurer.

Formal medicolegal or insurance reports can be arranged on request (fees apply).

If you need a payment receipt for reimbursement or self-assessment purposes, please email your request quoting the date of consultation.

Payment and Billing Queries

Invoices are normally issued by the Medserv or the treating hospital on behalf of Expert Hand Surgery Ltd.

If you have received an invoice you believe relates to a different provider, please contact the secretary to confirm details.

For insured patients:

  • Always obtain an authorisation code before treatment.
  • Excess payments are collected directly by Mederv or Mr Fawdington.

For self-pay patients:

  • Payment can be made by card, bank transfer, or secure hospital portal before treatment.
  • You will receive a full written quotation for any surgical procedure.
